Tested. Tried. True. L. A. Barnaby & Sons has stood the test of time. Established in 1947, Leon Barnaby Sr. started his business from humble beginnings in his small garage. His son, Leon Barnaby Jr., took over the company after his father's passing in 2001.
A home improvement company, L. A. Barnaby & Sons is now in its third generation with Leon's son, Brian. Leon says, "We mainly started as a roofing company and eventually graduated to siding, windows, doors, decks, and light interior remodeling as well".
Leon grew up in Stratford on Highland Avenue before moving to the north end of Stratford. He says, "Once Donna and I got married, we moved up to Monroe and raised our family".
Brian adds, "I grew up in Monroe for over 25 years and attended Eastern Connecticut State University. I've been working with the company since high school. I started with deliveries and am now doing sales. I've always had an interest in the home improvement business and keeping the name going".
Another valued member of L. A. Barnaby & Sons is Bill, who has worked with the company since the early 50s! He started out as an installer before becoming one of the superintendents. Bill has been with the company for 65 years and just turned 90 years old. Currently, he works three days a week from 8 to 12 PM.
Bill says, "I started working for L. A. Barnaby & Sons out of high school by putting on siding". He has seen many changes over the years, especially in vinyl being used for siding. He jokes, "Vinyl used to be what is on the kitchen floor. Now it's what we used for siding".
Bill is proud of his longevity with the company and can't remember a time before work. He comments, "I was married 61 years when I lost my wife. I don't remember not being married. I also don't remember not working for Barnaby. I got married in 53 and started working in 55". He enjoys his job and has lots of memories through the years. He jokes, "If I had any talent, I'd write a book!"
Bill has four children who think he is amazing, two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.

From the time they sign the contract to clean up at the job, we remain in constant communication with our clients to make sure we are on the same page. We make sure that customers are 100% satisfied and make it a relationship for years to come".
Another way that L. A. Barnaby & Sons distinguishes themselves is through the Equipter RB4000, which is similar to a portable dumpster. This efficient device which results in protection for the homeowner's lawn and also increases efficiency.
According to their website: the Equipter allows roofing companies to be in complete control of debris. None of your debris has to touch the lawn. From the minute those old shingles come off your roof, they're immediately in the Equipter ready to be transferred to the dumpster. It's really that simple. Instead of managing the debris three to four times simply by manpower, the Equipter eliminates the cleanup to only one step.
